It was revealed last month that she has battling breast cancer once again, 25 years after first being diagnosed.

And in the middle of her latest health struggle, New Idea claims Olivia Newton-John is 'devastated that her illness has taken such a heavy toll' on daughter Chloe Lattanzi.

'She's been in floods of tears and can barely believe it's happening,' a source said, describing the Grease star's fears for her only child.

It comes a week after Chloe, 31, was criticised for sharing an 'unhealthy' photo of herself on Instagram, with fans urging her to 'eat something'.

The actress deleted the photo, only to repost it with a lengthy message hitting back at trolls and describing the 'pain' she was experiencing.

'OK I'm too skinny. Say what you like. I can't care anymore. I am in so much pain,' she wrote.

Chloe then revealed she had been 'sobbing for an hour' after being criticised online.

Seemingly struggling with her family situation, she also referenced her past battles with anorexia and depression in the post.

'Since I was born, this has been my life. This life is also what I believe what made me sick. The anorexia the depression, she wrote.

In the photo that sparked the controversy, Chloe's very slender waist and rib-cage were on display in a strapless crop top and tight jeans.

With Olivia, 68, undergoing treatment for the relapse of her cancer, which has spread to her sacrum, New Idea's source claims the singer is 'really upset' by Chloe's own struggles.

'No mother wants to see their daughter going through such pain, and Olivia's no different,' the insider reportedly said.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Olivia's representatives for comment.
