Sam Neill has joined a Greenpeace campaign highlighting the damage caused by plastic bags.

In the video, Sam displays his commitment to the cause by eating a plastic bag.

He stars alongside the marine biologist Dan Godoy in a satirical clip from Greenpeace which promotes the virtues of the plastic bag.

"The plastic bag is a master of disguise," he says in the clip. "Turtles mistake them for jellyfish and eat them. How good is that?

Neill and Godoy are joined by 61,000 other Kiwi's who have signed a Greenpeace petition to ban single-use plastic bags.
