As you'll know, the queen has her real birthday and a public holiday (called Queen's Birthday Weekend). But why does the Queen have two birthdays? Well, it turns out that there's a quite an interesting answer...

The Queen was born on the April 21, and turned 91 this year, however, Queen's Birthday (the public holiday) is celebrated on the first Monday of June.

The concept of the King or Queen having more than one 'birthday' originated approximately 250 years ago for a reasonable cause; the weather.

The Monarch's birthday has always been celebrated with a parade, but should the monarch have a birthday in a colder month (in the UK), this tradition is held separately from the official date of birth.

So basically the Queen wants sunny weather for her birthday parade.

We guess she's doing parade goers a favour... If only the rest of us had this luxury!
