Tui Flower, the New Zealand food inspiration has passed away at age 91.

She was the appointed the food editor of the New Zealand Woman's Weekly in 1960, and stayed there for an impressive 20 years.

Peter Gordon from Bite Magazine explained why Tui was such an influence on NZ women:

"The instructions are simple common sense. This is partly why Tui touched so many women and families, because she encouraged the housewife to cook better - and to leave some of the old ways behind as kitchen technology slowly improved," he wrote.

She lived on a property in Auckland where her family a resided for over 100 years before she passed away.

She certainly will be missed.
