Queen Elizabeth, one of the richest women in the world, never carries any money with her when she's out - except for one day a week.

Her Majesty takes cash with her on Sunday when she goes to church.

According to The Sun, her butler irons a £5 note (about NZ $9.50) that she discreetly leaves in the collection plate after the church service.

On days when she is feeling particularly generous, she reportedly leaves a £10 note instead.

In her handbag, the Queen is also said to always carry mint lozenges, a fountain pen and lipstick, according to Bedell Smith, historian of the royal family.
