Andy Williams and the Osmond Brothers

Andy Williams, who has died from bladder cancer after a stellar 75 year career, was the star responsible for introducing the Osmond Brothers to TV viewers.

The hugely popular Andy Williams Show was on the air for almost a decade, until 1971.

The Osmonds first appeared on Dec 13, 1962, when Andy invited the boys to come up to the stage from the audience. The band made many appearances on the show after that, adding Donny to the line-up and growing up onscreen as the years went by.

The Osmond family have issued a statement saying they feel they've they lost one of their own.

"I know he’s in a better place," Alan Osmond said. "And I know my mother and father are greeting him on the other side, along with his parents. We were that close."

"He had the best TV show, I believe."  "We grew up on ‘The Andy Williams Show.’ And he threw everything behind us, even though we were just no-names out of Ogden, Utah.
