Yes, research suggests pups that wag their tails to the left may actually be even friendlier than their right wagging canine counterparts.
Scientists from the University of Victoria in Canada built a life size black Labrador and placed it in a park, then studied the responses of 500 dogs as they approached the mechanical pooch.
They found that 56% of the dogs approached the fake Fido confidently when the tail was wagging to the left, but only 21 percent approached without hesitation when its tail wagged to the right.
The results have led researchers to conclude that canine communication is far more complex than originally believed.
Past studies have demonstrated that humans also tend to favor actions that take place on the left side.
