Olympic Gold For Legos?

Share |

Monday, August 06, 2012

Too bad Legos aren't an Olympic sport. Surely Warren Elsmore would have won a gold medal. Calling himself a "freelance Lego artist" Warren spent 300 painstaking hours building a replica of the London 2012 Olympic Park - entirely from 250,000 Lego bricks. All the standout venues and structures are represented from Anish Kapoor's Orbit, to the swooping roof of the Aquatics Center and, of course, the grand Olympic Stadium. Elsmore, who lives in Edinburgh, UK and creates unique, LEGO models for individuals and corporate companies said, "My colleague and I built the Olympic model over a three week period. For this display, I planned very little in advance and most of the model was built freehand, simply by looking at pictures of the site and building what I see. He did note, "Every brick we use is a standard LEGO element, with no painting, gluing or non-LEGO parts."
