DIY jobs and simply just being at home is costing us plenty.

Falls are a big danger - This week is Home Safety Week, with ACC figures showing Kiwis have had more than 280,000 nasty tumbles at home last year - that's 40 per cent of all payouts.
Unfastened mats and power cords across the floor trip up many of us and every year, more than 100,000 people aged 25-64 fell over at home. Thousands of them had to have at least a month off work to recover.
Add ladders, power and hand-tools and chemicals to the mix and our DIY genes get us into a heap of trouble - simple common sense and may I suggest, reading the manual before using that flash new tool, [a terrible task I know!] could save us and the whole country a pile of money..
