Thanks to social media sites and internet forums, more of us are remembering the dates of all sorts of occasions, even those that have no personal meaning for us.

Facebook users get reminders of friends’ birthdays by reading posts from old schoolmates and friends jogging the memory of times gone by.
Dates of pictures uploaded to networking sites help too.
Just over half admitted they were more aware these days of major anniversaries outside their personal lives, such as the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.
More than half admit the web is making them more aware of celebrity birthdays and historical anniversaries and that number rises to 66 per cent of those aged under 30.
Personally-speaking, if it wasn't for my diary and cellphone, I'd be hard-pressed to recall most of the important dates in my life!
