NZOC and Samsung's Interactive Experience Truck to Help get Kiwis Closer to the Games

Share |
To celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Samsung in association with the New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) has launched the Samsung Experience Truck – a mobile Olympic experience that gives people a chance to get up close and personal with Kiwi athletes and New Zealand’s proud Olympic history.

The Samsung Experience Truck, launched at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland, Friday 27 January, will tour the country until the conclusion of the 2012 Olympics in August stopping off at schools, towns and events along the way.

The 18-metre long, 28-tonne truck features a range of interactive digital experiences using the latest Samsung technology and is designed to get Kiwis involved in the lead-up to the London 2012 Olympics.

Visitors to the Samsung Experience Truck can wear a replica Olympic gold medal or hold Olympic Games torches as the crowd roars in the background. They can then share images with family and friends via Facebook (
www.facebook.com/samsungmobilenz).

Those wanting to take a look back in time can browse iconic New Zealand Olympic moments spanning more than 100 years of Olympic history using a specially designed mobile app. Olympic memorabilia – including the shoes Peter Snell wore to train in the lead up to the 1964 Tokyo Games – will also be on display.

Visitors can view the NZOC’s 2012 Olympic ‘Proud Moments’ campaign where Kiwis, including athletes and celebrities, share their thoughts on what makes them proud to be a New Zealander to help inspire our athletes as they prepare for London. They can also take part in various games designed to test their sporting prowess.

The Samsung Experience Truck will embark on a countrywide tour bringing the Olympics closer to Kiwis all over New Zealand. For more information and schedule, please see
www.facebook.com/samsungmobilenz.

The Olympic Games in London take place between 27 July 2012 and 12 August 2012. New Zealand will send a team of approximately 200 athletes competing in 17 sports.
