Less than two weeks after the legendary Betty White passed away at the age of 99, her official cause of death has been revealed.

The beloved Golden Girls actress - who was just weeks off her milestone 100th birthday on January 17 - passed away peacefully at home in Brentwood, California, on New Year's Eve.

And now a death certificate has revealed she died from a "cerebrovascular accident" - the medical term for a stroke.

Sources who have since spoken to TMZ say she had been "alert and content" after the stroke and prior to her death.

White's agent Jeff Witjas also revealed her last words before she died was her husband's name, Allen Ludden.

"I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don't think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband, Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again," he told Page Six.

The star - who was born in 1922 - was a pioneer of early television with a career spanning nine decades.
