Super Bowl LIV has come and gone, and once again, there were many memorable moments from the game.

The Kansas City Chiefs ended their 50-year championship drought, while Jennifer Lopez and Shakira wowed with their half-time performance.

However, it was Beyoncé and Jay-Z who stole the show after they remained seated while Demi Lovato sang the national anthem.

Video of the celebrity couple sitting along with their daughter Blue Ivy at Hard Rock Stadium has surfaced online thanks to TMZ - and the internet is very unimpressed.

While some fans considered it a sign of support for Colin Kaepernick, who sparked a fissure in the NFL when he decided to kneel when the national anthem was played before games to protest the killings of blacks by police officers, others slammed the power couple for being "disrespectful" and even accused the A-listers of harbouring hatred toward the United States.

"Listen up Beyonce and Jay-Z! You don't think it's necessary to stand for our anthem and our flag!? Countless lives have been lost defending that flag, so people like YOU can attend events like the Super Bowl in peace. You should be EMBARRASSED for yourselves. What a disgrace," vented one viewer.

"Beyonce and Jay-Z remain seated during the national anthem ... That disrespect aside - she has sung the national anthem and performed two halftime shows, yet she couldn't find it in her to support Lovato who suffered through many struggles? Shaking my head," added another.

Kaepernick himself weighed in on the controversy via his Instagram story, writing: "I thought we were past kneeling though?"

However, it seems things were different in 2013 when Beyonce felt others should stand during the national anthem when she performed it.

At a press conference in New Orleans to preview her Super Bowl halftime show, she was reported to have asked the journalists in attendance: "Would you guys mind standing?"

What are your thoughts on the couple's decision to stay seated?
