High school sweetheart advertisement has a bittersweet ending

A Whanganui man's was searching for his long lost "love" by taking out ads in newspaper classified pages, hunting for his "heart".

Gene Pitkethley placed the advertisement to try to find "Leah Spicer" and his heartfelt message has been shared online.

"I've loved you since I met you at high school in Whanganui," he wrote. "You are my Yellow Rose, my Heart and my All. Love always Gene P."

Jase and Bernie caught up with Gene this morning and unfortunately, his message had been poorly received and he has ended his search.

We wish both of them the best of wishes in the future and at least Gene got closure on the situation which he was seeking to find an ending to.
