Jack Tame is a journalist, presenter and regular radio host. Apparently he’s also an expert baker.

The Baking Industry Association’s Christmas Mince Pies for Charity auction closed at midnight last night on TradeMe, and Tame’s efforts came out on top.

It involved 15 Kiwi celebs going head to head to raise money for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal.

The aim was to get familiar Kiwi faces like Antonia Prebble, Simon Gault, Michael Meredith, Jesse Mulligan, and Hilary Barry to bake some pies, then sell them off for charity.

Breakfast presenter Jack Tame’s baking effort came out on top, bringing in $500. The final bid came in at $255, but the winner later rounded the amount up to $500.

Newshub’s Samantha Hayes earned $350, and Breakfast’s Brodie Kane secured $300.

The total proceeds, which will be donated to The Salvation Army reached $2932.

A very good effort indeed.

The organisation is hoping to run the campaign again in 2017.
