Queen Elizabeth II always looks wonderfully done up. From jewellery, to handbags, to gloves, the Queen is polished to perfection with matching accessories.

But it has now been revealed that the Queen doesn't just accessorise for the purpose of looks or style.

Royal historian Hugo Vickers told People magazine that the Queen's accessories have a double purpose: they also serve as communication devices.

Here's how they double as secret signals:

The bag

When the Queen is ready to move on from a conversation or a social event, she’ll switch her handbag from one hand to the other. This gives the sly signal to her handlers that it's time to go.

However, if she places her bag on the floor, she wants to leave the conversation immediately.

The ring

The Queen will also result to spinning to have the same effect as putting the bag on the floor- abort conversation right now.

In the unlikely case that you may ever find yourself talking to the Queen of the United Kingdom then this knowledge will come in handy!
