For a little country in the bottom corner of the world, we have a lot to be proud of – and one of those things is our amazing seafood.

But due to royal family protocol, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visit later this year, they won’t be able to indulge in this delicacy.

It is a strict royal guideline that Meghan Markle will have to get used to.

A royal butler explained to the Express why this is so important:

"It is a very sensible move to abandon having seafood when out and about on public duties," he explained.

"We don't want a member of the royal family having a serious reaction to food poisoning, especially if she is on an overseas tour."

This will come as a shock to Meghan’s system as she once told a food magazine that her ‘ideal food day’ involved a lot of seafood.

Unfortunately for Meghan, this isn’t the only food that she’ll have to pass up now that she is a royal.

"As well as shellfish, it would also be quite appropriate for foods such as foie gras to be avoided."

That one is a bit easier to avoid over here, a delicacy none the less!
