Apple and Cranberry Sauce Recipe

This is a simple sauce that goes very well with rich meats. You can make it well in advance, so pop some in a sterilised jar as a lovely home-made Christmas gift that’s sure to impress!

 

Cook time: 30 minutes, plus cooling time
Serves: 6


Ingredients:
500g cranberries (fresh cranberries or frozen ones), thawed
2 bramley apples , peeled, cored and cut into chunks
150g golden caster sugar
1 stick cinnamon


Method:

  1. Place all the ingredients in a wide saucepan and add a splash of water.
  2. Put the pan on the heat and bring to the boil.
  3. Simmer gently until the cranberries have burst and the apple has softened.
  4. Boil down until the mixture thickens slightly, then take off the heat and leave to cool.
  5. Keep in air-tight sterilised jars. Once opened, store in the fridge.
