Chocoholics rejoice - the latest Cadbury chocolate spreads are coming to New Zealand.
Confectionary shop United Sweets has begun pre-orders for Cadbury's Caramel chocolate spread based on its Caramello product, and Crunchie spread - filled with hokey-pokey pieces.
The company has ordered 1,000 of each of the 400g Cadbury jars, which will be arriving from December 5 in time for Christmas.
Pre-orders are available for $16.90 a jar on the company's site or $14.90 with the code SPREAD.
Auckland-based United Sweets said earlier this year that it was looking to import the Cadbury spreads, resulting in its Facebook post being shared almost 14,000 times in the first 24 hours with an overwhelmingly positive reaction.
United Sweets owner Thomas Burrell said the response had been "mind-blowing".
"With over 100 orders placed in the first hour, there has been a great response and an excited vibe on Facebook," Burrell said.
"We launched with a pre-order so we have the option to get more in time if it goes off and the demand is there."
The trend of chocolate companies converting popular chocolate bars into spreads has taken off globally, with Lewis Road Creamery's Chocolate Butter the latest to be stocked in New Zealand.
The Mars company also announced earlier this year that it was releasing spreadable Twix, a chocolate spread with hints of caramel and pieces of crunchy biscuit to put on toast, pancakes - or more likely - eaten straight from the jar.
Burrell said United Sweets was also looking to bring the Malteser and Twix spreads to New Zealand.
Cadbury New Zealand, which is owned by Mondelez and operates separately to Cadbury UK, said it was not planning on bringing the spreads to New Zealand through its stores.
James Kane, Mondelez New Zealand's country head, said despite this, the response to a Cadbury product was exciting.
"While we don't have any plans to bring these delicious spreads to New Zealand at the moment, we are always looking to find new products that Kiwis will love," said Kane.
"It's great to see so many Facebook users getting excited in response to the post from United Sweets," he said.
"Clearly there are plenty of people out there who are keen to try a spread that offers them the same flavour as their favourite Cadbury treat."
