Spring is here so it's time to dig in! There is something so satisfying about seeing our labours transform into lush greenery, beautiful blooms and tasty produce, which adds value to our homes. Here we have put together the top 5 trends that are shaping this year's gardens.

Vivid colours
Say goodbye to pastels! This year, bold colours aren’t just for fashion runways and home decor: Expect to see colourful blooms everywhere you look. The hottest colour for this year will be orange in its all its fiery variations.

Not a fan of orange? Don’t worry - vivid jewel tones will also be popular picks this year. Think deep purples, hot pinks, vivid reds and rich greens.

The home herb garden
Growing your own fruit and veges has been a popular garden trend in recent years, but now it’s all about the herbs. There’s nothing like picking a few fresh sprigs for your culinary creations - like fresh basil with tomatoes and balsamic vinegar or crushed mint in your favourite summer sipper.

Better yet, you don’t need a garden to take advantage of this trend. Herbs are ideal for container gardening, in pots in a sunny kitchen window.

Smaller water features
People are moving away from large ponds and toward smaller water features. Heavy metal fountains and features made of natural stone are going to be hot sellers. A cut piece of stone, a boulder or a beautiful glazed urn with water bubbling out of the top, or copper and other metals are now popular materials for the garden's decorative features.

Vertical gardening
With more and more people living in less and less space, there is a greater need to make smart decisions about what to grow and how to grow it. The small-space gardening trend means more trellises, arbours, wall-gardens and climbing plants that flourish in small containers.

Wide weave wicker furniture
The outdoor sofa is here to stay! Expect to see chunkier outdoor furnishings, and the larger weave design offers a more inviting look with a unique style that really stands out from the crowd. This year, we are also seeing patio furniture sets that have relaxed the straight lines or curves.
