We all love a party - especially at Christmas and New Year. So how do you maximise the fun and minimise the trouble? If you're throwing a party, avoid potential issues by following some simple guidelines:

  • Make sure you have good supervision and a plan in place in case of gatecrashers or disorder.
  • Only invite people you know and trust.
  • Be a responsible host and provide plenty of snacks or food and non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Arrange for friends to stay over or have a means of getting home safely.
  • If a party is starting to get out of hand call the police before it escalates. Or contact police in advance if you have concerns.
  • Going to a party? Have a plan for getting home safely - and if you're out with a group look after your mates.

Remember, Police are out in numbers this month, keeping an eye on bars, parties, alcohol bans and drink-driving. Have fun, but stay safe!
