Keeping your kids safe.

Kids must never be left in car or a house on their own there have been far too many tragic events in New Zealand.
Remember that it is illegal to leave a child under the age of 14 years without reasonable provision for their care.

Some tips for keeping your kids safe :

Know where you kids are at all times. If you use caregivers ask for references and visit them often without warning (if you can)

Talk with your child often and listen to what they have to say. If you have any concerns then seek help from a community group (CAB/Youthline for instance) for more serious matters contact the Police.

Your local playcentre, kindy, library or citizen’s advice bureau can provide you with information on books and resources to help keep your kids safe. Don’t forget www.bryanandbobby.co.nz too :0)

Babysitters : Babysitters must be 14 years old and somebody you trust and that you children feel happy with. Leave emergency numbers by the phone incl a number where you can be contacted or a relative or family friend can be contacted on.

Tell Babysitter what your kids bedtime routine is and provide information about medication, extra nappies and where to find eg : a torch, spare bedding, clothes etc.
