A royal aide reveals the secret behind Charles and Camilla's happy marriage

The Queen's former press secretary has revealed that Camilla will make the perfect Queen Consort as she never fails to keep her husband's spirits up.

Charles Anson told People magazine that the Duchess of Cornwall, 70, "kind of jollies" Prince Charles along and "doesn't let him get too overburdened by the woes of the world."

"She's got a good philosophy about life: 'There are things you can change, other things you can't change . . . Don't get too hung up about it'," he explained.

According to the Daily Mail, the public relations expert who advised the Queen for more than six years before leaving to take up a role with Burger King in 1996, insisted that the Duchess will be known as Queen Consort when Charles, 69, eventually takes the throne.

"I think she'll be a great consort as queen," he said.

Camilla herself has previously spoken out about how she prioritises maintaining a sense of humour in the public eye.

In an interview with the Mail on Sunday last year, she explained: "You've got to laugh through most things, and sometimes I do laugh a bit too much.

"There are situations where it's very difficult not to lose it completely, especially, you know, if something goes terribly wrong and everybody sits there for a split second [not sure how to react].

"You do have to swallow and pinch yourself very hard to not laugh."

Since Camilla's marriage to Charles in 2005, Clarence House has maintained it is "intended" she will be known as "Princess Consort".

However, it is well known the heir to the throne would like to see his wife crowned queen.

In March this year, Charles' website quietly removed a statement in which they said it is "intended the Duchess will be known as HRH The Princess Consort when the Prince of Wales accedes to the throne".

It was also removed from her personal biography and the Buckingham Palace website appears to have also removed the reference in its profile of Charles' wife.

A spokesman said at the time: "This is one question that Clarence House has not been asked by the public for some time, which is why it no longer features."

Camilla has not always had the easiest of time in the court of public opinion, but a documentary released last year to celebrate her 70th birthday seemed to win over a new legion of fans as it showed a softer side.

Cameras followed Charles and Camilla on various engagements, including a trip to Italy and a charity tea dance, where they enjoyed an awkward dance with an Elvis impersonator.

In The Real Camilla: HRH the Duchess of Cornwall, Charles said of his wife: "She has a wonderful way with people that is what is special about her.

"She is remarkable really, she is the best listener in the world and can get anything out of anyone."
