It's no secret music biopics are all the rage at the moment.

Earlier this week it was revealed White Lotus hunk Theo James will reportedly portray George Michael in an £85 million biopic about the 'Wham!' frontman.

The 38-year-old actor, who hails from Oxford, has become one of Hollywood's hottest stars thanks to his performance as an unfaithful husband in the second season of the popular series.

But Adam Lambert is unimpressed with the casting.

Taking to Instagram, the 40-year-old posted an eye roll emoji and wrote: "Yay another straight man playing a gay icon."

The comment was seemingly in reference to other biopics about gay stars played by straight men, such as Rami Malek playing Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody and Taron Egerton playing Elton John in Rocketman.

In March 2020, Lambert, who is gay, admitted that he would like to play Michael should a biopic be made.

According to insiders, the film, which is in the final stages of development, will trace the singer's career from his days with Wham! to his triumph as a solo artist with singles such as 'Careless Whisper.'

The 'Careless Whisper' hitmaker died on Christmas Day in 2016 from heart and liver disease. He was 53 years old at the time of his death.
