Opera singer Andrea Bocelli is quickly turning into to be a beacon of hope for Italy, and the world amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

Bocelli gave an Easter Sunday performance at the Duomo of Milan, but instead of calling it a concert, the Italian referred to it as a "prayer".

The entire performance was capped off by a stirring rendition of 'Amazing Grace' which showcased Bocelli's iconic voice.

"I received this invitation by the mayor of Milan and by the authorities of the church and of course I answered yes. I'm very happy to do this," he said. "Also, it's not a performance. It's not a concert. It's only a prayer."

"I will go there to pray, and I'd like to think that everyone listening to me sing can pray with me," he said.

Accompanied only by an organist, Bocelli sung a perfectly chosen selection of music, which included holy songs like Ave Maria and Amazing Grace.
