Just yesterday Barry Gibb was awarded a knighthood at Buckingham Palace.

The 71-year-old received the knighthood from Prince Charle for his services to music and charity, and made sure to thank his late band members and brothers.

Congratulations to Barry Gibb on receiving his knighthood today at Buckingham Palace!

In  his moving tribute, Barry said:

"If I had spent my whole life writing songs on my own, it would have meant something else altogether.

I hope and pray that they are aware of what has happened and that they are proud. I believe in that."

Maurice passed away from complications following an intestinal operation in 2003 at age 53.

And then his twin Robin lost his battle with cancer in 2012 at age 62.

The now Sir Barry is still getting used to his newly acquired title, and is finding it all a bit surreal.

"It is a high award that your culture can give you and that is something I am enormously proud of."
