After wowing audiences down under this month, music legend Billy Joel has announced his final concert of the year at Madison Square Garden is postponed due to an illness.

Taking to social media, the 73-year-old wrote: "I’m disappointed to share that I’m under doctor’s orders for vocal rest due to a viral infection so unfortunately, I must postpone my Monday, December 19th concert at Madison Square Garden to June."

He added: "I’m so sorry to let you know so close to show day, but I was hoping to be closer to a full recovery by now. Sadly, that hasn’t happened. I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.”

The Piano Man did not provide further details on the infection.

The performance would’ve marked the 'Uptown Girl' hitmaker’s 86th performance in his residency at Madison Square Garden.

Joel will kick off 2023 with two shows set for the first few weeks of the new year on January 13 and January 27 at Madison Square Garden and at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, respectively, before Joel and Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks set off on their joint stadium tour in March.
