A female rescue cat with an adorable moustache is capturing hearts around the world thanks to her "striking resemblance" to the late Freddie Mercury.

Allow us to introduce you to Mostaccioli ...

The stray kitten - who was born with a black mark across her top lip - was found by owner Natalie alongside her three brothers when she was just one day old in August 2020, whimpering in a Californian garden.

After nursing the animals back to health, Natalie couldn't bear to part with Mostaccioli when it came time to place them in new homes, so she decided to adopt the sweet feline.

Creating an Instagram account for her furry friend, social media user soon fell in love with Mostaccioli's brilliant moustache - comparing her to the legendary Queen frontman, who was well-known for his own excellent 'tash.

"If Freddie Mercury was a cat ...," wrote one person.

Someone else declared: "That's Freddie Mercury!"

"Freddie Mercury?? I thought he was dead?" joked another user.

"She genuinely looks like Freddie Mercury," commented a fourth follower.

Mercury died of AIDS-related pneumonia in 1991 at 45.
