Britney Spears announces she is pregnant with her third baby

Congratulations are in order for Britney Spears!

The pop star has taken to social media to announce that she is pregnant with her third child.

The news comes after Britney's fiancé Sam Asghari - who she refers to as her husband - hinted that the couple were hoping to have a child.

The 40-year-old confirmed the exciting news in an Instagram post with a photo of pink flowers: "I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back. I thought 'Geez … what happened to my stomach?' My husband said 'No you're food pregnant silly.'

She added: "So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby … 4 days later I got a little more food pregnant. It’s growing !!! If 2 are in there … I might just loose it."

Spears also revealed how she plans to avoid the paparazzi who she says will want to profit off pictures of her pregnant.

"I obviously won't be going out as much due to the paps getting their money shot of me like they unfortunately already have.

"It's hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression. I have to say it is absolutely horrible. Women didn't talk about it back then, but now women talk about it every day!"

Britney concluded: "This time I will be doing yoga every day! Spreading lots of joy and love."

The hitmaker already shares two sons, 15-year-old Jayden James and 16-year-old Sean Preston, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Spears and Federline - who was once her backup dancer - tied the knot in September 2004 after a whirlwind six-month courtship. The pair divorced in 2007.

The couple share custody of the boys, with a 70-30 split in Federline's favour.
