Over the weekend Cher took to social media and shared that she would be launching a new gelato company.

“Yep, this is real … I’m launching my gelato … Watch out LA! All started five years ago, and now it’s finally HAPPENING. More to come,” Cher captioned the post.

The video shows a colourful ice cream truck with the logo “Cherlato,” and images of Cher licking a massive scoop of gelato covering it, while her hit song Believe plays over the footage.

Fans were quick to jump in the comments with their own theories about what flavours we can expect.

“Featuring such flavors as: Ginseng, Tramps, and Thieves— If I Could Turn Back Lime — Dark Chocolate Lady,” one commenter wrote.

“Flavors had better be based on song titles! ‘I Got Ube Babe,’ ‘Believe in Life After Rum,’ ‘If I Could Turn Back Lime,’ ‘The Scoop Scoop Song (It’s in His Hershey’s Kiss’).’ Best I could come up with at almost 2 a.m.,” another added.

One more commenter revised some classic Cher lyrics in their response, adding, "'But after all, said and done/ You can have an Ice Cream Cone.”

On the official Cherlato Instagram, the first post revealed that Cher collaborated with New Zealand-based ice cream company Giapo, known for making ice creams in a gluten-free facility, to bring her gelato to life.

“A few years ago, Cher met Giapo and together, the pair brainstormed, taste-tested, experimented and eventually conceived Cherlato,” reads the caption showing off a cup full of gelato sprinkled with toppings.

The ice cream will be launching in Los Angeles, with a focus on local ingredients. “We’ve partnered with local farmers and artisans who share our passion for quality and sustainability,” another post on the Cherlato Instagram reads.

While the range is only available in Los Angeles at this stage, Grazioli would hate to see his loyal Kiwi gelato lovers miss out and reveals that the range will be making its way to his iconic Auckland shop soon.

“We are planning to hold a special Cher-lato day at Giapo, where Kiwis can come and experience the full Cher-lato menu,” he said. “We’re looking forward to welcoming gelato enthusiasts to our shop and sharing this exciting collaboration with them.”

As for what Kiwi fans can expect from the bold and innovative collaboration? Grazioli says each flavour, whether you’re enjoying a chocolatey scoop or Cher’s adventurous avocado and breadcrumb gelato, will “bring joy to everyone who tries them”.
