Coronation St star's wife is saved by doctors

Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald in Coronation Street has paid a heartfelt tribute to the medical staff that saved his wife's life.

The mother of three, Emma Gleave was rushed to hospital with a mystery illness over the weekend and was said to be only hours from death. 

The hospital was overstaffed at the time, and it was only because of a kind-hearted consultant rushed into the hospital at midnight to perform the life-saving surgery.
