Coronavirus: NZ has 29 confirmed new cases of COVID-19 in the community

New Zealand has 29 new cases of Covid-19 in the community, reports the Ministry of Health.

One of today's cases is the Hamilton East case which was publicly reported yesterday, but was not included in the figures due to the time of reporting.

The rest of the new cases are all in Auckland.

Today a total of 1,082 cases are now reported as having recovered from Covid-19. All of the Wellington cases are recovered.

That brings the total number of active cases in the community to 275 (the total number of cases in this outbreak is now 1,357).

There are 30 people in hospital, including five patients in intensive care.

Auckland and parts of Waikato (Raglan, Te Kauwhata, Ngaruawahia, Hamilton city and Huntly) are currently at alert level 3.

The rest of the country is at alert level 2.

Cabinet is meeting this afternoon to discuss possible alert level changes.

New Zealand has had 4,025 confirmed cases since the pandemic began last year.
