Closing out this year's ARIA Awards in Sydney last night, some of Australia's biggest female names in music paid tribute to the late Helen Reddy.

Taking to the stage for a rousing rendition of her feminist anthem 'I Am Woman,' Delta Goodrem was joined by Jessica Mauboy, Tones and I, Amy Shark, The Wiggles' Emma Watkins and Marcia Hines as they "roared" through the performance.

Behind the singers was a giant wall that featured a video link featuring other famous Australian female musicians.

Former Australian prime minister Julia Gillard introduced the performance, remembering first seeing Reddy perform as a young woman.

"I was carried away by her power and potential as she sang," she said.

"I want to acknowledge the strong women who have come before me, who stand beside me, and the ones I look forward to meeting … I hope they can have the freedom to take their place, to own their voice and to write their story without limits."

Reddy passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 78 on September 30, five years after she was diagnosed with dementia.
