The festive season is well and truly underway ... and Ed Sheeran and his pal Sir Elton John just gave fans another reason to look forward to Christmas!

The music superstars have teamed up to recreate Love Actually's famous doorstep scene to announce their new festive song will be titled 'Merry Christmas'.

They also revealed the single will be released on Friday 3 December.

In the clip, Sheeran can be seen arriving at John's door, in a recreation of the famous cue cards scene starring Keira Knightley and Andrew Lincoln.

"Just under a year ago, I called Ed Sheeran to see if he wanted to make a Christmas single with me and now it’s nearly here!" the Rocket Man said.

"'Merry Christmas' will be out Friday 3 December with all proceeds from this year's Christmas period going to the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation and Elton John Aids Foundation."

The duo also shared a sneak peek at the music video for the song.

The pictures comes after Sheeran previously gave fans a sneak preview of the festive track.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2, Sheeran performed a section of the track live with his guitar.

"There's loads of sleigh bells on it and it sounds a lot more Christmassy than that," he said afterwards of the currently untitled song.

The two musicians have been friends for years - with Sheeran signed to Elton's management company, Rocket.

We can't wait for the song to be released!
