Ed Sheeran reveals he wrote three new Christmas songs with Elton John

Just days after Ed Sheeran and his pal Sir Elton John released their brand new festive song, our favourite redhead has shared some potentially exciting news ...

Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the British singer-songwriter revealed 'Merry Christmas' is one of THREE holiday songs they wrote together.

"I've always been quite against it," Sheeran told the late-night talk-show host. "Not that I don’t like Christmas, I love Christmas, but in terms of doing a Christmas song, you need to chuck the kitchen sink at it."

In the end, the duo hurled more than a sink at it.

They chucked in a sleigh full of Christmas bells, several reindeer, five gold rings, two sparkly pianos and a partridge in a pear tree by writing a handful of holiday-themed songs.

All proceeds from this year's Christmas period of 'Merry Christmas' will go to the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation and Elton John Aids Foundation.
