Emotional Bruce Springsteen pays tribute to President Joe Biden with performance

Plenty of stars took to the stage to pay tribute to the new President of the United States, including 'The Boss' Bruce Springsteen. 

The 71-year-old music legend performed on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial as the opening act for the Celebrate America concert. 

Performing a song titled "Land of Hope and Dreams" from his 2001 album Live from New York City, and armed with his beloved guitar, Springsteen seems to have tears well up in his eyes at a certain point of the song. 

In the lead up to his presidential performance, Springsteen also paid tribute to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris but sending out a short prayer on his Sirius XM radio show. 

“We are creatures whose veins pulse with hope and faith and love,” Springsteen added. “I’ve made most of my life’s work the pursuit of that hope, faith and love, and its evidence and power here in this world.

We need shared beliefs and common values to give us the ties that will bind us into a country and a people that will define our character and deepen our national soul.

These days, I know those things are hard to come by. But they’re there, and today is a day to celebrate them.”

In 2016, Springsteen was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama which is the nation's highest civilian honour.
