50 Shades whips NZ box office

Fifty Shades of Grey has become New Zealand's highest-grossing R18 film.

New figures released today show the raunchy flick has made $2.62 million in box office takings locally, overtaking the previous record-holder Wolf of Wall Street which made $2.59 million.

Other films in the top 10 include Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, Sharon Stone's Basic Instinct, and drug-fuelled Trainspotting.
