The upcoming documentary following Helen Clark for a year has premiered in Sydney.

My Year With Helen, directed by filmmaker Gaylene Preston, follows the former prime minister in the year she campaigned for the position of UN Secretary General.

Clark shared a photo of her and Preston on Instagram, confirming the film received a standing ovation.

Kiwi star Danielle Cormack voiced her support for the documentary on Instagram with a photo of her and the "indomitable" Clark.

"A brilliant, warm, funny, insightful doco by @gaylenepreston about HC running for Secretary General @unitednations - Highly Recommend," Cormack wrote.

My Year With Helen has been announced as part of New Zealand International Film Festival's program, which runs from July 20 – August 6.
