Lana Rae Meisner has died after an accidental shooting.

The wife of Randy Meisner, tragically died on Sunday (06.03.16) after a gun discharged whilst she tried to move it.

In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department said: "As she lifted the rifle in the case, another item within the case shifted and hit the trigger of the rifle causing it to fire and fatally injure Mrs. Meisner. [Randy] was cooperative throughout the investigation."

Officers were called to the property she shared with the 'Hotel California' hitmaker in Studio City, California at around 7pm. Lana was found with a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by the city's fire department, CNN reports.

Meanwhile, Randy has suffered another tragic loss recently, after his bandmate Glenn Frey tragically passed away in January following a battle with various intestinal issues.

Of his bandmate's shock death, he said: "I heard he wasn't feeling well, but I didn't think it was that serious. Then we heard he got pneumonia.

"I knew he had some problems with his stomach, but I figured he'd be OK and get out of the hospital and do his thing again. All day yesterday, I was like a zombie. He was the last person I expected to go first. He was such an energetic guy. This is very sad for me. I'm sad we couldn't take it to the limit one more time."
