Michael and his wife Luisiana Lopilato, revealed the heartbreaking news about their son, Noah, last week on Facebook and said they were "devastated" by the tragic revelation.

"We are devastated by the recent diagnosis of cancer of our eldest son Noah who is currently receiving treatment in the United States," their statement read.

"We've always talked about the importance of family and the love we have for our children."

He continued: "Luisiana and I will devote all our time and attention to help Noah to get better, for now suspending our professional activities.

"During this difficult time, we ask you to pray for him and please respect our privacy. We have a long road ahead and we hope that with the support of our family, friends, fans around the world and our faith in God, we can win this battle."

In the days following, Michael's sister-in-law shut down claims that Noah is battling leukaemia or a condition affecting his central nervous system.

Daniela Lopilato revealed that the family was "broken in half" as she texted Argentinian journalist Tomas Dente.

The Canadian crooner previously spoke about his regret of not having children sooner.

He said on Loose Women: "The only regret I have in my life is that I took this long to have kids, because I had no idea the perspective it would give me.

"I had no idea how much I would love being a dad. That's it, that's all I care about… I love them too much probably, if there was such a thing."

The couple, who are also parents to 11-month-old Elias, found out the devastating news when they took Noah to the doctors with a suspected case of mumps in Argentina, according to La Nacion.
