It's easy to forget that in 1962, the cassette tape first made its way into the world and only a year later started being used for music. It was purely out of convenience that the vinyl record eventually lost out to tape cassette and in 1989 saw the end of production for them. Ever since, music has been played out of CD's, MP3's and now online streaming.

Fast-forward to 2017 and it appears as though nostalgia has caught up with the rest of the world as announces that will resume production of the vinyl record, almost 28 years after they were made extinct. Although the information out of Sony headquarters has been quite hush hush, it appears as though production will continue out of a factory in Southwest Tokyo.

Many are confused by the companies decision to kick start production however the figures can't be looked over, in 2015 over 12 million sold.
