Dakota Johnson was thrust into the limelight following her staring role in the erotica film, 50 Shades of Grey.

The actress, who is daughter to actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, also stars in the second film of the series, 50 Shades Darker, which has just opened in New Zealand cinemas.

When asked about what her parents think of her role in a very raunchy and provocative film, she said:

"Well, I think, my dad was pretty protective. But when it came to me doing this job, they kind of didn't have a choice. I was pretty adamant. I think they would like to be able to see these movies that have put me in this place in my life, but because it's pretty inappropriate... [laughs]

They don't judge me on what projects I decide to do. They judge me on what kind of human I am to other humans."
