They've been married for more than a decade and share two daughters together.

But Keith Urban, 49, has revealed there was a time he thought wife Nicole Kidman, 49, was out of his league.

The country crooner's confession comes after the Lion actress said it took four months from their exchange of numbers for Keith to call and ask her out.

During an interview with CBS on the Grammy red carpet, Keith explained his wife's comments away as the result of shyness.

'That’s the longest story,' Keith said on Sunday, reported People.com.

He continued: 'I’m just saying, imagine that you’ve never met anybody like that, that’s where I was at. It’s true, it’s true – that’s why I didn’t call.'

Last week, Nicole told The Ellen Degeneres Show that it took months from their first meeting for Keith to ask her out.

'I remember thinking I had such a crush on him and he wasn't interested in me,' she said. '... It's true he didn't call me for four months.'

'That's not true,' Ellen said. 'How is that possible? And did he explain why he didn't? He must have just been shy, he must have been overwhelmed with emotion.'

But Nicole explained the time gap away, later saying: 'There's certain things, and I think anyone in a marriage would agree with this, you just don't, just leave that.'

'We're here now and it's all good. We don't need to hash up all that stuff right? So I should just shut my mouth,' she added.

Nicole and Keith met in 2005 at a G'Day LA event and married in June 2006 in Sydney.

The couple battled a few obstacles early on, with Keith seeking treatment for addiction in rehab just four months after they said I do.

The Aussie pair share two daughters together, eight-year-old Sunday, and six-year-old Faith.
