A nine-metre high mural dedicated to the late George Michael has been unveiled in the north-west London suburb of Brent where the pop megastar grew up.

The mural - which was painted by well-known British artist Dawn Mellor and unveiled over the weekend on Kingsbury Road - contains scenes from George's various music videos, including 'Careless Whisper' and 'Outside,' while referencing such songs as 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go'.

Fans will also recognise the main image in the mural which is taken from an iconic photo of George blow-drying his hair while backstage on tour.

Dawn recreated the picture of the Wham! singer backstage in 1985 during the pop duo's world tour, The Big Tour.

Joining similar tributes including Amy Winehouse's mural in Camden and an artwork for David Bowie in Brixton, the painting was commissioned as part of the Brent Biennial - which was set up following Brent being named the London Borough of Culture for 2020.

The 'Faith' hitmaker passed away on Christmas Day in 2016, at the age of 53 from heart and liver disease.
