Travelling to Gallipoli is a rite of passage for many New Zealanders, especially around Anzac Day. But with the dawn of the Gallipoli Centenary just two days away, if you can’t make it there, Kiwis can now make virtual visits to Gallipoli with the new Google Street View imagery of the Turkish peninsula.
Detailed, panoramic views of cemeteries at Anzac Cove and Chunuk Bair are among the sites now visible on Street View, along with the seaside Anzac ceremonial area, where dawn services are held.
Google has also added a collection of historical artefacts to its Cultural Institute site. The collection includes photographs, letters, artworks and other documents.
