Israel Folau's GoFundMe campaign has been taken down after supporters donated more than $750,000 to support his legal battle against Rugby Australia.

The rugby star called on regular Australians to fund his legal fees after he was sacked for breaching his contract with a homophobic post.

Today, the page was disabled and read 'Campaign Not Found'.

Folau was sacked last month for comments on social media, including claiming that homosexuals are destined for hell unless they repent for their sins.

GoFundMe has shut down Israel Folau's fundraising campaign.

A spokesperson says they'll be issuing full refunds to all donors.

They say after a routine period of evaluation, they've come to the conclusion the campaign violates their terms of service.

"As a company, we are absolutely committed to the fight for equality for LGBTIQ+ people and fostering an environment of inclusivity."

"While we welcome GoFundMes engaging in diverse civil debate, we do not tolerate the promotion of discrimination or exclusion," they said.
