Over the weekend, British singer-songwriter James Blunt went viral with his hilarious offer to help the New Zealand Police.

The 47-year-old singer - who's best known for his hit singles 'You're Beautiful' and 'Goodbye My Lover' - has been following the Omicron convoy protest outside Parliament and he's keen to offer his assistance.

Taking to Twitter, Blunt shared a BBC article on how Barry Manilow's music is being used to try to repel the protesters.

Never one to miss an opportunity for a self-deprecating joke, alongside the article he wrote: "Give me a shout if this doesn't work @nzpolice."

Blunt's tweet immediately went viral, with people calling him a "top bloke" and applauding his "sense of humour".

Speaker of the House Trevor Mallard obviously saw the tweet and started blasting 'You're Beautiful' through the parliament loudspeakers.

The song regularly features in "world's worst songs" playlists.
