Kelly Clarkson performs powerful live cover of Tina Turner

Kelly Clarkson sure knows her way around a love tune — and what better love song than 'River Deep, Mountain High?'

Kicking off Thursday's episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the American Idol winner paid tribute to Tina Turner with a powerful cover of her 1966 hit.

For her rendition, the 39-year-old singer stayed faithful to the classic - throwing in those high notes as per usual.

'River Deep, Mountain High' was released by Ike & Tina Turner as the title track to their 1966 studio album.

The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 and was ranked at number 33 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
