Yesterday Imogen Ayris won New Zealand's 26th medal of the Commonwealth Games at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham after claiming a shock bronze in the women's pole vault.

And she dedicated the medal to her late dad.

Speaking after the event, the 21-year-old revealed she made a vow two years ago that she would make him proud - a promise she more than delivered on.

"It's so special," Ayris said after she achieved the feat.

"After my dad passed, I promised that I would just make him proud and I feel like I've done more than that today.

"My dad's brother and sister were here today, and my dad's aunty and all of his family was here. So to have everyone here is so special."

He would be so proud!
