If you're a fan of Netflix’s swoon-worthy series Virgin River we've got some exciting news for you ...

It looks like it won't be long until the fifth season hits our screens!

After season four's major cliffhanger, fans have been desperate for the romantic drama – based on the best-selling book series by Robyn Carter - to be released.

And now New Zealand's very own Martin Henderson, who stars as Jack Sheridan, has shared an update with us.

Addressing followers directly in a video shared on Cameo, the actor revealed the new season will be hitting our screens in July!

"Virgin River season five coming out, I think, probably in July. So not long now, a few months," he stated adding: "Another instalment of hot, steamy gossip and intrigue on the river."

Henderson's update comes after he issued an apology to his fans following Cyclone Gabrielle.

The 48-year-old, who was born in Auckland, was set to do a live autograph signing but decided to postpone it due to the national state of emergency here.

"Not sure how much awareness there is outside of New Zealand right now, but we are being hammered by a pretty violent cyclone which has put the nation into a state of emergency," he explained.

"Fortunately, we remain safe but our hearts go out to those who have lost homes and property. I sincerely apologise for the disruption to the planned live signing for tomorrow but unfortunately, it has to be postponed till Feb 24th at 12 noon PST. Thanks for your understanding."

The first, second, third and fourth seasons of Virgin River are available to stream on Netflix now.
